Just a While

The following was written by Debbie Sorrow and dedicated to Zachariah Kyle Emerson, February 9, 2003, upon remembering and honoring him on his death on February 5, 2003.

Just a while

God reached down from Heaven and said,
“For just a just a little while …
I’ll send a special angel
To Katie, David, Lee, and Kyle.

He’ll be a hidden treasure
You won’t want to give him back.
He’ll change your lives and those he meets,
His name will be called Zach.

This little boy will not be like
The other boys around.
He will not see with human eyes
But he’ll hear every sound.

He’ll sense beyond all man’s façade
He’ll see with eyes like mine,
That look so deep into the heart
He’ll know in ways divine.

The limbs of this amazing child
Will be quite tightly bound.
He’ll not walk as others do
But his steps will long resound.

His mouth won’t speak a language
That just anyone can know.
The smile of this, my chosen one
Will cause your hearts to glow.

A gift from Me – true blessing
For those who take the time.
The truth that I have told you;
When you lose your life, you’ll find …

I’ll send you Zach, a precious soul,
And though he be just one
To my faithful servants, Katie, David, Lee, and Kyle
I’ll smile and say, “Well done …”

Take Heart, all you who love him so,
Who willingly do give,
Rest in the knowledge that this child,
With me in Heaven lives.

He leaps and jumps and laughs with me
And says with that great big smile,
“Don’t weep for me, my loved ones …
I’ll see you in just a while”.
